My name is Jason Bowen, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to introduce myself and share my story with you.
I’m the proud son of a career Army veteran. My father, a decorated Vietnam War hero, earned the Soldier’s Medal and the Bronze Star with Valor during his 22 years of active service. After retiring in 1989, he returned to his hometown in Ohio. My parents met in Washington, D.C., where my mother was born, and I was born in Maryland. Like many military families, we moved frequently—living in several states and even spending three years in Germany. In 1991, I graduated from my father’s alma mater and began my own journey of service by enlisting in the United States Navy.
During my eight years in the Navy, I completed basic training at RTC Orlando and Parachute Rigger “A” School in Millington, Tennessee. I was stationed at Naval Air Station Willow Grove, where I served four years in a helicopter squadron, followed by two years in the Base Paraloft. My responsibilities included maintaining pilots’ flight gear and packing parachutes to ensure the safety of our servicemembers. I concluded my service with two years in the Inactive Ready Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1999.
After leaving the military, I chose to continue serving by becoming a police officer. I graduated from the Montgomery County Police Academy in 1998 and began my law enforcement career as a patrolman in North Wales Borough. Six months later, I joined the Muhlenberg Township Police Department, where I have proudly served since March 1999.
Over my 25-year career in Muhlenberg, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. In 2021, I was promoted to Patrol Sergeant, and I currently oversee the night shift, ensuring our officers have the tools and support needed to protect our community. Reporting directly to the Chief of Police, I work to uphold accountability and professionalism within the department.
In addition to my leadership role, I’ve pursued extensive training, earning certifications as an Evidence Technician, Certified Weigh Master, Level 1 Accident Reconstructionist, Police Motorcycle Instructor, and D.A.R.E. Instructor, among others. These experiences, along with handling hundreds of criminal cases and thousands of summary cases, have given me a deep understanding of the criminal justice system.
My family and I are proud to call Muhlenberg Township home. I’ve been married to my wife, Dena, for many years, and together, we have eight children, four grandchildren, and two rescue dogs, Bentley and Piper. We are deeply involved in the community, volunteering regularly at local events. As a Trustee at the Temple Fire Company Social Quarters, I support initiatives like the annual Winterfest, which benefits Keystone Military Families. I also contribute to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which assists first responders and Gold Star families.
Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue serving as your District Justice. My decades of public service have prepared me to ensure fair and impartial treatment for all. I am committed to judging every case based on the facts and upholding the integrity of the judicial process.
